Understand more about the core network, so you can develop your products and roadmap along the same lines.

UMTS / 3G - Universal Mobile Telecommunications Service, the third generation of mobile technology, providing up to 384kb/s ip data connections.

EDGE - Enhanced Data rate for GSM Evolution, designed to make the use of the radio network capacity and spectrum more efficient.

GPRS - General Packet Radio Service, a shared IP connection, typically up to 40kb/s, with characteristics determined by choice of APN.

HSCSD - High Speed Circuit Switched Data, available in limited Orange countries, providing 28.8kb/s dedicated circuit swicthed data.

WiFi - Oranges offerings in the Wireless LAN public hotspot market. This varies by market across the Orange footprint.

Orange APNs - To use a handset to connect to the network in each country, the country-specific APNs are required and can only be accessed by that country's SIM card.

WAP - Wireless Application Protocol is a protocol that is bearer independent and so it is possible to run WAP over existing infrastructure such as Circuit Switched Data (CSD), Short Message Service (SMS) and General Packet Radio Service (GPRS).
