We’re launching a new on-device App Shop client, an evolution of our existing Application Shop, which will be accessed via a shortcut on the Orange homescreen.

The potential audience for your apps is huge.

We’re looking for new apps to go onto the devices that’ll be rolled-out with the first release of the App Shop client: apps that creatively embrace the phone features, inspire in their usefulness and simplicity, and make these phones even more indispensable to our customers.

So we’re challenging you – the developer community - to think about how phones, consumers, needs and expectations have evolved, and come up with innovative applications, for our evolving Application Shop...

what are the devices, and what are their features?

We can’t tell you exactly which devices the client will be launching on yet – but to help, we’ve summarised the particular features we think you’ll be able to make use of to create exciting new apps:

And if you’ve got some great apps for other manufacturers’ devices, then please submit them using the normal submission form.

If we like them they’ll go onto the WAP Shop, and will probably transfer to the App Shop client once its rolled out onto the relevant devices.

what kind of apps are we looking for?

We’re looking for apps that make use of one, some or all of the features listed above.

Your app could be for devices from one manufacturer or for all of the devices.

Please provide your app in both English and French if at all possible. We're not able to tell you which devices will be launched in which countries (some may not be launched in both), and we wouldn't want you to miss out.

And to get you thinking along the right lines, here are some examples of the kind of apps we're really interested in, which make use of some of these features:

camera: get product and price information using the camera

microphone: blow into a microphone to create music

accelerometer: turn your phone accelerometer as a motion controller

GPS: overlay a virtual world onto a map

If you don’t win, don’t despair. If we like your apps they’ll be featured in the App Shop client anyway.

who are the judges?

Apps will be judged by a panel made up of the Global Director for the Application Shop, the Country Product Managers responsible for the Application Shop in the UK and France, and the Orange Partner team.
