International Mobile Gaming (IMG) Awards - winners announced!

The IMG Awards aim to recognise the world's most talented mobile game developers from all areas of the industry. The Awards are an NVIDIA initiative, sponsored by Orange Partner, Nokia and Alias, among others.

The Awards promote the development of rich visual content for mobile devices – for the simple reason that it will be come one for the most important growth drivers for mobile multimedia in the coming years.

And the winners are:

 Grand Prix: NVIS and HIT Lab with AR Tennis
 Best Art: VAKA Technologies with 3D World Warriors
 Best Technical Achievement: NVIS and HIT Lab with AR Tennis
 Best Gameplay: Paul Carruthers with Monkey Pole Climb

Congratulations to all those who took part!

The winners received a cash prize, software licences and a guaranteed contract with an operator and a publisher to market the title.

20 entrants were shortlisted, and received ad hoc support from Orange Partner to build a demonstrable version of their game by the end of January 2006.

the timescale

Entrants had until 31 October to submit their proposals – 172 projects were submitted this year from all six continents!

The best 20 were then shortlisted by an international jury - these will receive the support, tools and technical assistance required to realise their project and build a demonstrable version by the end of January 2006, including ad hoc support from Orange Partner.

The winners were announced at 3GSM World Congress 2006 in Barcelona.
