the contest

It was a race against the clock, and right up to the last minute entries were being received for the Orange Innovation Contest.

Nearly 70 applicants entered to win a possible commercial contract with Orange (and a Wurlitzer jukebox) or the Access prize (a brand new award for this Contest in Cadiz).

 what was the judging criteria?

The quality and calibre of products and services was astounding, making it extremely tough for the judges to narrow down the competitors to a list of 10 companies to go through to the first round of presentations.

The debates amongst the judges (a range of representatives from across the Orange and the France Telecom Group) got more and more intense as the morning rolled on.

After careful study and much deliberation and discussion, a short-list was finally chosen. The 5 lucky shortlisted companies were invited back to present to senior decision makers that afternoon.

But, whilst the competition was incredibly fierce….there could only be one Orange Innovation Contest winner and one Access (PalmSource) Prize winner!

The judges felt Qix to be a product that demonstrated highly innovative and original search facility with clear commercial benefits for Orange and France Telecom Group and value add to the end user.

The product is in-line with the Orange strategy of simplifying the user-experience on a mobile by allowing customers to potentially access all applications, content and other stored information including contacts, and downloaded content in just a few simple clicks.

'We are honoured by Orange's recognition of Qix revolutionary role in helping users get the most from their phones while helping operators generate revenues.

Orange is a leader in providing compelling technological solutions for the mobile market and this award has given us unparalleled exposure to the major decision makers within Orange and the France Telecom Group. It also supports our strategy to roll out Qix globally'
