the Orange APIs... what we're doing and why

Monday 10:00 - 10:30
Tuesday - 09:00 - 09:30

Why have we launched these APIs? What do they have in common? How will you access them? And will they cost you anything?

This overview will explain what we're doing, why and how, and will act as a pre-cursor to the following marketing and technical insights into the different types of APIs and enablers on offer to you - our developer community.
the Orange APIs... advanced communication APIs: a marketing overview

Monday - 10:45 - 11:15
Tuesday - 09:45 - 10:15

The Orange Contact Everyone service allows you to broadcast messages in various formats (SMS and voice mail on fixed or mobile phones, email and fax etc).

And the Multimedia Conference service allows several people to work on the same document online at the same time, and provides scheduling, invitation handling and call session management too.

Find out about the APIs associated with these services. We'll provide examples of how they can be (and already are being) used, to get your inspiration flowing.
the Orange APIs... advanced communication APIs: a technical overview

Monday - 11:30 - 12:00
Tuesday - 10:30 - 11:00

We'll take you through what you need to do before getting started with these APIs, show you how to get started using the Java and .NET SDKs, plus give you the Developer Manual needed if you're 'going it alone'.

It'll all be explained on the new Orange Partner website when you get there, but we'll guide you through the information and give you hands-on support to get you going.
the Orange APIs... Personal APIs: a marketing overview

Monday - 10:45 - 11:15
Tuesday - 09:45 - 10:15

Our new range of Personal APIs allows you to enable Orange France customers to access their calendar, contacts, messaging, photo services and profile information via your website. With a click of a button they'll be able to add personal information to their existing Orange personal services.

We've released five APIs initially, plus an authentication API to gain their approval to access their personal information in the first place.

Join us in this session so we can explain in detail why this should be of interest to you.
the Orange APIs... Personal APIs: a technical overview

Monday - 11:30 - 12:00
Tuesday - 10:30 - 11:00

The Personal APIs are already available in 'alpha' mode in the Orange Partner developer play zone, so take a look and see how easy it is to integrate them into your application.

But if you haven't got time before the event, don't worry – this is exactly what this session's all about.

Monday - 17:00 - 17:30
Tuesday - 12:00 - 12:30

You might want to take a look at the Pikeo developer site and the Bubbletop Foundry before you get to this session, just to familiarise yourself with the way they work, but then come along and have all your questions answered. If you don't get a chance to take a look beforehand, then don't worry – it'll all become clear.

Once you've attended the sessions you're interested in, jump into the mash pit for commercial inspiration and 1-2-1 technical support. We'll give you all the support and tuition you need to create your applications and mash-ups.

Thanks to a 6 million-plus livebox customer base and a 1 million-plus IPTV customer base, Orange is a key player in the Boradband market.

We value our services, network and our audience, and have tasked ourselves with developing services for the home, focussing on the areas of entertainment, efficiency and peace-of-mind.  This is to create the next generation of offers … beyond triple play and even quad play.  To create the Digital Home.

We need to develop these services with partners, and we're looking to speed-up the
time-to-market.

If you're a 3rd party who could provide services (content, security, health, automation, etc.), technology (for network and access) or CE (for devices), then you should be interested.

We'll provide a 30 minute overview, looking at our general requirements
We'll then hold a 30 minute session looking at livebox service requirements
And then 30 minutes on livebox Content requirements
And then 30 minutes on livebox Device requirements
Plus 30 minutes looking at the needs of the business livebox team

The specialists from Orange will be there in-force.  Such an important area of our business deserves such strong support. From both you and Orange.

we need… your downloadable applications for the mobile device

Monday - 16:15 - 17:30
Tuesday - 09:00 - 10:15 & 13:45 - 15:00

Have you heard about the Orange Application Shop?  It's where users can download mobile applications direct to their device via the wap or the web, paying for them at the point-of-purchase.

The Shop has been available in the UK since January in the UK, and is about to be launched in Belgium.  More countries will follow soon after.

Find out what we're talking about by coming along to this session.  (And we'll also give you the chance to submit your apps to us for consideration, and do your Orange Compatibility Testing there and then at Partner Camp.)  We'll hand-hold you through the commercial and testing process.  What more could you want?

we need... your interactive IPTV services and ideas

Tuesday - 09:00 - 09:30
Wednesday - 09:00 - 09:30

Is there a renewal of interactive services on IPTV? Which business models apply? What kind of new services can we develop? To meet which needs? With what kind of partners: UGC providers, infotainment partners, entertainment partners, games etc?

We're looking for potential content and technical partners who could come up with ideas about how to do this.

we need… your help in using mobile innovation in the IPTV space

Tuesday - 09:45 - 10:15
Wednesday - 09:45  - 10:15

 member, download the presentation

Although TV and mobile handsets are very different, could we take mobile innovation and use it for the interactive TV market? The way of managing the content is similar between a remote control and a mobile as well as the technical performances of the two solutions (mobile and set-top box) … so, why not?

How could we adopt such mobile innovations to develop interactivity, interfaces on TV sets and boost this fairly poor interface?  You tell us!

we need… your side-loading ideas for mobile / video synchronisation

Tuesday - 10:30 - 11:00
Wednesday - 11:15 - 11:45

 member, download the presentation

'Side-loading' allows the easy transfer of content from one device to another. It is commonly used for the transfer of music, and more and more for video (i.e. Archos).

On the mobile, side-loading is already popular for downloading personal photos and videos on the PC and vice versa. With the storage capacity increasing rapidly with SD cards, side-loading will become the 'done thing' for a large part of our audience very quickly- especially the 'young', who are also interested in watching video on the mobile.

So what are the opportunities, and how could we work together to provide them?
Could people buy a DVD and transfer usage from the TV to the PC and to the mobile?
Could they use the mobile to watch off-line a feature film or series in VoD mode?

What do you think?  How can we work together?

we need… mobile TV and VoD recommendation tools

Tuesday - 10:30 - 11:00 & 17:30 - 18:00

 member, download the presentation

As the use of video and TV content on the mobile increases, the need to profile our customers and provide recommendations based on the 'if you like this, you'll love this' principle grows.

Do you have indexation, discovery, recommendation, search and profiling techniques and products to suit the needs of Orange customers (and also suit the needs of the Orange brand)?  We'll explain our needs within this session.

Our aim is to continue the growth of mobile TV within the Orange countries through the use of such profiling services, and are keen to meet 3rd parties to help us do this.

we need... your ideas for innovative services for Fibre To The Home

Monday - 11:30 - 12:00
Tuesday - 17:30 - 18:00

 member, download the presentation

Have you ever dreamed about unlimited network capacities?

In the past, the major obstacle to implementing very high broadband services has been lack of QoS and/or poor bandwidth. Nowadays, FTTH networks brighten the life of developers since they are able to support unlimited bandwidth and high reliability.

But... Have you found the killer application for very high broadband network? We'll find out.

we need... your music service plug-in ideas

Tuesday - 15:15 - 15:45
Wednesday - 09:00 - 09:30

 member, download the presentation

Does the idea of plugging-in your services into the Orange music area appeal to you?  We'll outline our music strategy, and explain what we mean, but basically, we're interested in partners who can bring us components we wouldn't develop ourselves  -so niche/specialist technology that can plug into our existing platform to enhance it and/or the services we provide.

Interested?  Good.

we need… your end-to-end mobile solutions to increase the use of data communications services

Tuesday - 11:15 - 12:30
Wednesday - 11:15 - 12:30

Specifically relating to the mobile device, we're interested in people who're able to provide end-to-end mobile solutions that interface with a server solution, using our current architecture and infrastructure, not requiring additional device development.

We'll take you through examples of some recent 'signature application' projects, explaining what was important for us, how they've contributed to a significant increase in ARPU, how we worked with the suppliers, who else from Orange was involved, and how we made the decision to develop and launch.

Any ideas on how to help us?

we need… user generated content and social networking partners

Monday - 17:00 - 17:30
Tuesday - 11:15 - 11:45 & 16:45 - 17:15

The Orange foray into social networking and community sites is now well-established, with Pikeo, Bubbletop, Soundtribes and Whosegame. We've launched APIs for some of our community sites, and you're already developing widgets for our 'web-top'.

How can we help each other to go further?

In this session we'll explain what we've done, what we're after from you, and will give you examples of how it would all fit together.

We'll also guide you through distribution opportunities and prepare you for any 1-to-1 follow-ups you may have.

navigating through... Orange - an introduction

Monday - 16:15 - 16:45
Tuesday - 09:45 - 10:15

Partner Camp is organised and run by Orange Partner.
As Orange has grown into much, much, more than mobile, the Orange Partner links with other people within the France Telecom Group have developed to provide you with a core network of teams to help you help us.

We're all here to help you develop your 3rd party relationships with the France Telecom Group, and to help you navigate through Orange.

Our aim is to clarify and explain the synergies between the teams, and then introduce 30 minute sessions from our colleagues from the Orange Trial Factory in France, the Livebox Lab programme, the Start-up programme, and one of our French-based business services programmes.

 navigating through... Orange Partner

Monday - 10:00 - 10:30
Tuesday - 09:00 - 09:30

Here at Orange Partner, we're about to celebrate our fourth birthday, and many of you have grown with us, from the early days of the pure developer programme with a sole interest in applications and content, through to the fully-fledged 3rd party programme for the whole of Orange, encompassing mobile, broadband and the area of IPTV.

In this session we'll explain how the programme works, and what it can do for you. We'll outline how we work with our colleagues within Orange to meet your needs, whether you've a commercial or technical interest in life, and whether you're interested in supplying services or using the Orange network and enablers.

navigating through... the Orange Trial Factory

Tuesday - 09:00 - 09:30 & 12:00 - 12:30

The Orange Trial Factory has been going for just over a year now, providing trials for innovative mobile and convergent products and services of interest to the French market, with a view to commercialising them with Orange France.

The programme finds the 3rd parties, tracks-down a 'sponsor' within Orange, runs the trial and then - if all is successful - commercialises the service with Orange.

And did you know, one of the 3 trial solutions currently going into production as a result of the Orange Trial Factory, is from a 3rd party discovered at our last Partner Camp!

In just over a year, the Orange Trial Factory has run 5 trials (3 of which are going into production), with 6 more running right now, or about to be run.

navigating through... the Orange Start-Up programme

Monday - 17:00 - 17:30
Tuesday - 10:30 - 11:00

If you ever needed help to package your converged idea of interest to Orange country, and gain VC support, the Start-Up programme can help.

The programme offers management / consultancy support, marketing advice, and VC input.  It can help develop a 'turn key pilot/trial solution' looking into the technical elements, the partnership side and the consulting/project management aspect, and can also look at the budget/pricing structure of your proposal.

As we always say, it's in our interest to link up with 3rd parties, and we want to make it as easy as possible for you to do this.

We're interested in knowing what input you would like, to enable you to further-develop your project.
Is it mainly technical?  Mainly commercial?

Discuss this around the table, and help us define a methology that works for you.

 navigating through... livebox lab

Tuesday - 11:15 - 11:45 & 13:45 - 14:15

 member, download the presentation

The livebox lab is a business development tool dedicated to 3rd parties, for broadband/Home Network issues.

Its objective is to identify opportunities and to demonstrate profitability and technical feasibility of projects coming of interest to our Home Networking area.

It acts as a single point of contact for 3rd parties, covering marketing, financial and technical elements.

The livebox lab allows 3rd parties to go directly to the right Orange decision maker with a pre-filtered pre-stamped business case.

Several examples of projects handled in the Lab will be described in this session, with success stories illustrated along the way.

navigating through... Orange Business Services in France

Monday - 17:00 - 17:30

 member, download the presentation

If you're interested in, for example, deploying the Orange VPN network or mobile infrastructure in an organisation based in France, then you'll be interested in hearing what we can provide you with.

We'll outline the offers we have for the French business market, the training we can provide, and tell you about our different partner statuses.

navigating through… funding mobile application development: a venture capital perspective
- led by ACCESS

Tuesday - 11:15 - 11:45

Venture capital investors need a vehicle for discovering breakthrough technologies in the telecom landscape. They have a mission to fund startups that will improve the ability of carriers to deliver services.

Buoyed by the opening of the IPO window, acquisitions and innovative services by entrepreneurs, the venture industry in 2007had its biggest investment year since 2001. Will the dollars continue to flow to start-ups in 2008? If so, where? Listen as our panel of leading VCs gives its views of the industry and where it is headed.
navigating through... the Orange games route-to-market

Monday - 10:45 - 11:15 & 12:15 - 12:45

 member, download the presentation

We'll provide an overview of what we're doing in this area, and the channels into Orange. Including the opportunities we see in front of us, looking at the mobile and online PC gaming world, from a group strategic view point and from a country perspective.

an insight into... designing for Orange - how to design in an Orange way

Monday - 10:00 - 11:15
Tuesday - 13:45 - 15:00

The Orange brand is instantly recognisable, and is our most valuable asset. It is important to understand what makes up the Orange brand in order to effectively apply the brand personality (both visual and behavioural elements) in a consistent way. Along with best practice design and usability guidelines we are then able to deliver excellent customer experience in an Orange way.

Led by representatives from the global interactive brand, and the design and usability teams, this session will give a valuable insight into the Orange brand, interactive design tools, and application and service guidelines which need to be adhered to in the creation of all Orange-branded, or co-branded products and services.

The themes of 'brand' and 'design & usability' will be cropping up across many sessions in Partner Camp, so the teams will be on-hand to answer any questions during the event.

let's talk about... the mapping of a "popular emotion" using mobile phones traffic

Wednesday - 09:00 - 09:30

In large, global cities millions of people commute every day, and, using mobile phone traffic information, it's now possible to map those movements.

But it's also a way to map some "extraordinary" days: how does the final of the soccer world cup affect the movements within a city? What happens when hundreds of thousands of demonstrators go to the street...? We'll show you what happened in Paris on June 21st 2007: the day of the "fête de la musique".

"Orange Partner camp, again this year, was a great opportunity to meet with leading mobile developers while gaining important insights into Orange initiatives and plans.
I am always impressed by the access to FT executives at camp. I think it is this openness that sets the tone for a very productive environment for all attendees. Faro is not an easy destination - out of season, but Camp always proves to be worth the trip."
