HTML5: Life After Apps meet up in Orange Developer Center

bullet Thursday 17th June 2010

bullet Orange developer centre, San Francisco

Decisions, decisions, decisions... On June 17th we gathered a select group of about 90 entrepreneurs, investors and technologists at Orange Labs to engage in a town hall forum to debate how companies and developers are at a turning point for their choices in developing for the mobile web.

There was no charge to attend, and was strictly by invitation. Find out more about our Orange developer centre in San Francisco.

Even as a "standard in progress",  HTML5 in combination with other open standards such as WebKit is taking a shot at proprietary technologies like Silverlight and Flash.

The HTML5 choices of companies like Apple and Google and the sheer size of their installed base of devices are setting a de-facto standard.

We shared perspectives from a diverse mix of startups and major platforms about the choices they are making for their users, and just as importantly, for their developers. The conversation was moderated by Matthäus Krzykowski, VentureBeat staff writer and Chair of MobileBeat 2010.
