hello
As someone we’ve recently met at an event, I thought you may be interested in the latest edition of what's on, our newsletter for Orange Partner members. It helps us keep in touch with our 60,000+ members to let you know what’s happening. I hope you’ll be happy to receive future editions but, if not, you can simply unsubscribe (although we’ll be sorry to see you go).
You may be interested to know that Orange has released its 2010 financial results and with it the news our mobile customer base has grown to almost 150 million people. More importantly, those customers are spread across 32 countries on 5 continents. For us that's a key factor in measuring our success: playing a key role in these markets gives us the local knowledge that makes a real difference for our customers. It's this understanding of these markets and customers that makes a real difference to the partners we work with. Our comprehension of what works and what doesn't work there, as well as the subtle nuances of seemingly similar markets, can help you find the right customers, or prevent you from becoming one of the tens of thousands of apps that remain unsold in app stores. We want our ecosystem to provide Orange customers - both consumers and business - with the best services and solutions that enhance their everyday digital lives. Your talent and creativity combined with our customer expertise is an enviable partnership: thanks for everything you do and long may it continue.
Best regards,
Alexia Froudkine
Director, Developer Marketing and Alliances |

Orange Partner Connect opens for Java apps: more opportunities for developers
As promised when we launched Orange Partner Connect at the end of last year, we're now open for Java™ apps. Orange Partner Connect is our new service hub dedicated to the developer community that offers a single distribution point to get apps to Orange customers in all Orange markets. Application providers have been submitting Android apps for inclusion in the Orange App Store since the start of this year, and we'd planned to be able to accept Java apps in the early part of this year.
Orange Partner Connect is specifically created to give developers a straightforward, quick and transparent way to bring apps to market and monetize them on multiple operating systems, across the Orange global footprint. Extending the reach to Java developers will now open up the Orange customer base as well as enabling developers to benefit from Orange's trusted application retail environment, which is fully integrated with Orange billing and customer care services.
Additionally, as the Orange App Shop is locally managed in each market and optimised to meet local needs and devices, using Orange Partner Connect enables developers to better segment the merchandising and monetisation of mobile applications and content while addressing different consumers and business user segments. |

Orange sélection: getting to Orange customers on Windows Phone 7
Providing a simpler and more secure way to pay for content is a key offering for Orange customers, which has now been extended to Windows Phone 7. Orange sélection is a new area of Windows Phone Marketplace reserved just for Orange customers. When purchasing content on the Windows Phone Marketplace, the user simply confirms that payment will be deferred to their mobile bill and they can then instantaneously download any content as well as any future downloads. Orange sélection enables our customers to enjoy the real benefits of their content purchases from the Windows Phone Marketplace with the addition of a simpler and more secure payment method.
Launched in February in France, Orange sélection is already proving to be a big hit there. It will be coming to the UK soon and will be launched in other key markets over the coming months.
Orange is the first operator in Europe to offer the use of the customer's mobile bill to pay for content bought from the Windows Phone Marketplace. This new deal is the latest step forward in the strategic partnership between Microsoft and Orange. |

17 May: Webinar - Developing for Windows Phone 7
In this session we'll take a look at the Windows® Phone 7 platform and developer ecosystem.
What capabilities does the platform offer? What's unique about Windows Phone 7? How do I write applications? What tools do I have at my disposal? How do I test and debug applications and how
do I distribute them? Coming up with the answers to all your questions will be Mike Ormond of Microsoft. Mike works in the Developer and Platform Evangelism (DPE) Group at Microsoft where
he spends his time telling others about Microsoft's development platforms and helping them understand them. Prior to joining DPE, Mike looked after Microsoft's developer support organisation. |
