Members of the programme currently benefit from access to online technical information; testing tools; commercial support; development assistance; regular communication; training and the use of the worldwide Developer Centres. The Application Shop is a substantial new benefit of the programme, opening up an additional marketplace for Orange Partner products. The Application Shop is designed to complement existing wap and web based routes to market, including the current Orange World and the Orange Applications Showcase for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) it will offer a huge range of applications aimed at personal use – from travel guides and GPS tools to personal productivity products. The shop will feature applications across all major platforms - RIM, Symbian (Series 60, UIQ …), Linux and Microsoft. The shop will roll out to every major Orange market over the next six to nine months from Q4 2006, with a focus on offering localised content. Product descriptions will be in local language for each country and in many cases the applications themselves will also be localised. The Application shop will be available to customers via their local Orange wap and web sites." "The Application Shop will offer a significant benefit for our customers and our partner developers, so it is fitting to be announcing it today at Orange Partner Camp, where for three days Orange will engage with over 400 existing and potential partners from across the world" says Steve Glagow, Director Partners and Operations, Orange ". We look forward to seeing some exciting and ground breaking innovations over the next few days and to seeing many of these brought to market via the Application Shop in the future." The Orange Partner programme was set up to provide guidance and support to those involved with design, build and commercialisation of mobile solutions and now has over 45,000 members worldwide. The bi-annual Partner Camp provides attendees with everything there is to know about developing and commercialising successful solutions for services in partnership with Orange. Existing and potential partners are also able to meet with senior decision makers from Orange and France Telecom Group, providing unparalleled exposure for their products. This year's Orange Partner Camp will have a major focus on convergence, following France Telecom Group's announcement to use the Orange brand for all its mobile, fixed-line, broadband and TV services. Orange is looking for new and exciting ideas from developers and service providers to really leverage the numerous opportunities convergence offers to customers.
