Over 200 existing and potential partners and third parties joined 63 Orange/France Telecom Group participants for three days and some great business exchanges took place!

If you were with us, thanks for coming and making it a really successful event – especially as it was just the week before holidays and not least also recognising the challenges we face in this difficult economic climate!

To give a taste for what went on, here are some highlights...  We offered:

4 Global sessions to guide campers and share Orange’s strategic direction
a well resourced developer play hut providing access to relevant tools and demos
75+ sessions
38 speed dating slots and 60 1-2-1s
2 contests and a challenge; and more
a strong Industry presence represented by our 12 sponsors

Attendees travelled from 21 countries across the world to partner and party with us…

who were our attendees?
where did you come from?
why did you come?
who from Orange and the France Telecom Group did you have the opportunity to meet

'Orange Partner Camp represents the unique convergence of heightened productivity in a playful environment.  The diversity of topics and candor displayed during the sessions was impressive, and allowed us to get a better understanding of the challenges facing emerging growth companies.  Furthermore, in such an intimate setting, we were able to make strong contact with several potential partners.'

Andy McGuire – VP Mobile Innovation Market

4 Global sessions to guide campers and share Orange’s strategic direction

what were the Global sessions all about?

Our Global sessions outlined our strategy, gave a clear direction for how to get the best out of attending Partner Camp and reported immediate Partner Camp accomplishments.

'It is very good to have key players of the company speaking at the stage. It gives you an idea of the importance of the partner program for Orange.'

Oscar Iñiguez de la Torre Bernabeu, Editor, Weblogs SL

Our Global sessions began with the Monday morning camp orientation, followed by the Monday afternoon power packed and fast paced pow wow sharing the Orange strategy with a particular emphasis on clean and simple solutions.

Then a Tuesday afternoon mid camp update exploring market initiatives that are driving hot competition and with input from industry specialists including ACCESS, dotMobi, GSMA, Sun Microsystems, and Symbian.

We concluded with the all encompassing camp farewell on Wednesday lunchtime summarising the 3 days, including reporting the outcome of our competitions which are detailed more fully in the contests section below, and explaining next steps.

'We need our partners to help us simplify everyday essentials for our customers.'

Yves Tyrode, Executive Vice President, Orange France Telecom

The key strategic message delivered in the pow wow centred around the requirement for products to be simple and customisable, and that technology should be hidden behind services.  Four elements of simplicity are sought and applications must:

be easy to install
be interesting
be useful
be designed for everyday life

what went on in the developer play hut?

With 6 areas of interest in the developer play hut, there was something for everyone and the commercial opportunities were visible.

The Brand and Design Usability team explained what we are looking for from their perspective and the rest of the exhibits sought to inspire, provoke, challenge and invite interaction between you and us, and between each other.

We presented:
examples of products and services that have already
   been created;
a special feature by our associate company,
   SoftAtHome;
our suite of APIs, and our new web 2.0 Djinngo
   interface for building web widgets;
Orange compatibility and industry testing tools;
our mobile apps route to market with our team
   available to help test, accredit, and sign products to
   progress to launching downloadable products in our
   Application Shops.

38 speed dating slots and 60 1-2-1s

so what did happen in the ‘meet us’ activities of speed dating and 1-2-1s?

We met 38 companies in an intense 3+ hour session of speed dating.
Each company was allotted 3 x “4 minute” slots to present to 3 distinct groups comprised of our sponsors, Orange and Orange Partner delegates.

'If getting actual business done is the most important aspect of partner camp (and to me, it is), 1-2-1s are the most relevant portion of partner camp.'

Blake Fayling, Owner, 5280 Mobile

And we managed 60 x 1-2-1s – tailored meetings placing those who applied for this ‘meet us’ opportunity in front of appropriate key decision makers from Orange and France Telecom at Partner Camp.

A highly effective match making exercise…

a strong Industry presence represented by our 12 sponsors

who was there?

We recruited a tremendous line up of sponsors led by ACCESS who held platinum status, and with Nokia and Symbian and Sun Microsystems as joint gold sponsors.

ACCESS additionally sponsored the now legendary Tuesday night Partner Camp party and yes it is true, there was a full-sized blow-up assault course, a dual bungie cord race track, water pellets and human sized catapults to propel the water pellets the length of our playing field.

The whole event was fuelled by great cocktails – the “We” and the “Oui Oui” – the evening was a lot of fun and a real wind down after the intensive concentration of sessions!  ACCESS can be relied upon to ratchet up the fun factor at Partner Camp!
